FLOWN members will come to your property with a specific deep work goal. To help you prepare for their stay, we have distilled these goals into three use cases:
Sitting comfortably at a desk with a laptop, to work on their startup’s pitch deck, write the next chapters of their book, to code an app, or simply to complete their usual laptop-based work away from their day-to-day.
Taking time away to read, reflect, think or plan a career move or new business idea
Collaborating together with their colleagues on an important project, or to spending time connecting with their remote team members.
It is likely you may already have many of the items required to support each of these use cases. However, if you don’t, we’ve put together the FLOWN Kit as a checklist and guide to help you source missing items.
Some Kit Items are essential – this means we won’t be able to list your property unless you have these items.
Others are simply recommended – you can choose to invest in these items in order to improve your guests’ experiences, and in order to appear more regularly on our members’ property searches.
Your desk should be at least 100cm by 60cm in size, and should be positioned for our member’s arrival in an inspiring part of your property – for example looking out of a window, rather than up against a blank wall.

Ergonomic seating is crucial for guests’ wellbeing whilst they work. Nothing worse than a sore neck after a long day staring at a laptop!
If you don’t have an ergonomic chair with lumbar support, you will need to purchase a lumbar support cushion for each workspace in your property – these are inexpensive and can be easily attached to your existing chairs (and packed away when you don’t need them).

A surprisingly common problem with many remote workspaces is there are insufficient power sockets for all your gadgets and appliances next to where you are working. So we need Hosts to provide a powerboard (ideally one supporting international plugs) set up directly beneath or alongside the workspace.
Here’s a few suggestions….
Each workspace should have strong, pleasant lighting both during the daytime and after dark.
A good desk lamp can solve poor lighting.

Monitors are valuable for guests wanting to maintain an ergonomic posture or who want to work on something requiring a larger screen. While we don’t mandate it – many people like to work just from their laptops – our members will be able to search for properties based on monitor availability, so it increases your visibility to our members. When a member books at your property, we’ll send you a notification of whether they want a monitor set up or not. We just ask that you put out the monitor and adaptor on the desk, ready for their arrival.
You should have adaptors available which connect the monitor you buy with at least USB-C and DisplayPort (and optionally VGA, HDMI, mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort)

The following items are also great ways to enhance your guest’s work environment – if you have these available, let us know, but no worries if not.
Teams will need a large display screen to present from. If you don’t have space for a large monitor, a projector can also work well with a large blank wall. You should have adaptors available which support the following types of laptop port: VGA, HDMI, mini HDMI, DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, USB-C

Within a private space in your property which inspires contemplation, you will need a comfy chair to enjoy it from, positioned so that guests can truly engage with the space they’re in. This could be a loveseat or sofa, or equally a cushioned window seat or luxury beanbag.

The following items are important for all FLOWN spaces, no matter which use cases you are supporting.
You should have reliable wifi. If you don’t currently have strong wifi throughout all key rooms and social spaces in the property, the FLOWN team will consult with you on your best options to improve it. You can also investigate items such as Google Mesh. Note – the exception for this is properties that are solely supporting the Contemplation use case. These do not need strong wifi, as many members will be seeking a digital detox in these spaces.
Here’s a few suggestions….
If your mattress is of average quality or quite springy, you’ll need to purchase a mattress topper (a much cheaper option than a new mattress!).
Here’s a few suggestions….
The ambient temperature should be comfortable throughout the property, and in particular in the working area. If any part of your property tends to become cold in the winter, you should purchase a heater to rectify this. Likewise, if your property tends to become hot and stuffy in summer, you should invest in an air conditioning unit or fan.

This should include: Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, toilet paper and hand sanitiser
